Ry Rocklen @ Honor Frasier

First saw the work of Ry Rocklen when he created a fun installation at Bonhams on Sunset featuring professional table tennis players battling it out on his table tennis tables cleverly made of dozens of trophies. And thought wow cool trophies is this artists "thing" thats his trademark.  But damn his new show at Honor Frasier was amazing you can tell alot of thought/care went into every piece. Everything felt as though they were perfectly constructed accurately conveying the artists vision. Rocklen is killing on so many levels,  glad he's doing work on the west coast

Definitely one of the best shows I've seen in 2016. I'm already looking forward to his next show.

Jorge Gutierrez at Gregorio Escalante Gallery

Great talk by Jorge Gutierrez at Gregorio Escalante Gallery. Whole show was painted with leftover mural paint. The artist cranked out 57 paintings when he originally intended to do just 20 pieces. Every painting had an extensive personal backstory. One of the more entertaining art talks I've attended. As each of the paintings depicted famous pop culture f with a loving/respectful/humerous latin twist.
