Gnarly Cali Freeway Fire
Was driving and saw this viscious freeway fire. Surprised they hadn't closed down the freeway yet. (Background music/soundtrack by Masta Ace from Long Hot Summer Album.)
Alex Prager's Photos are Sick
Realized I never posted pics of this opening. But Alex Prager's New Photos Are Sick!
(First heard about her on the Carson Daily show of all places.) Hope to own a good one of her photos in the near future.
Breathtaking photos... Prager paired up large format explosive action scene photos with close up reaction shots of characters all with disturbed/concerned looks in their eyes. The combination created an open ended cinematic narative that forced viewers to ponder the backstory of each pairing. What happened that brought the characters to this point? And what is to come of these distressed characters now? Which gives a timeless quality to the photos regardless of era specific costumes or props such as 1970's-80's cars, or 1950's/1960's postwar attire. Alex Pragers photos are provoking, exciting, and Very American. She's developing into one of the worlds best female photographers and I can't wait to see what she does next. Hope she doesn't just go into film abandoning her roots as a photographer as gallery goers lined up to wait their turn to view a her new/first short film which was screened in the back room. Excellent turn out(regardless of limited parking) one of the best shows in LA this year!

Tonight (June 29th) Pop Up Show at Land Rover Anaheim Hills
Big Life Foundation Art Show Junt 29th Land Rover Anaheim Hills CA.
My Fav was Travis Louie's Dodo Bird piece and the Mark Dean Vaca Aligator. I want to see the Original for the James Jean print below (Red Stacked/melting Animals). I hear the original is an oil paiting as opposed to his usual drawings which I always thought were mostly pen/ink sketch book drawings. (Print was there for $125 edition of 250)
I didn't see tubes or sleeves around, so I assume you would have to grab some napkins/or random price list, roll it up in that, and carefully ride out if you bought a print. (
Best ordourvves and Ice Sculpture of the Year.. seared tuna, jumbo shrimp, some high end quesedillia... Land Rover knows how to do it
)
