Realized I never posted pics of this opening. But Alex Prager's New Photos Are Sick!
(First heard about her on the Carson Daily show of all places.) Hope to own a good one of her photos in the near future.
Breathtaking photos... Prager paired up large format explosive action scene photos with close up reaction shots of characters all with disturbed/concerned looks in their eyes. The combination created an open ended cinematic narative that forced viewers to ponder the backstory of each pairing. What happened that brought the characters to this point? And what is to come of these distressed characters now? Which gives a timeless quality to the photos regardless of era specific costumes or props such as 1970's-80's cars, or 1950's/1960's postwar attire. Alex Pragers photos are provoking, exciting, and Very American. She's developing into one of the worlds best female photographers and I can't wait to see what she does next. Hope she doesn't just go into film abandoning her roots as a photographer as gallery goers lined up to wait their turn to view a her new/first short film which was screened in the back room. Excellent turn out(regardless of limited parking) one of the best shows in LA this year!
