Very Django Unchained Christmas

Went to see Django Unchained at Tarantino's Theater on Beverley Blvd for Christmas. I highly recommend seeing it there at his theater. As before the movie played about 25-30 minutes of prevues from old movies that were the inspiration for Django Unchained. Vintage 35mm clips from Looney Toones cartoons (featuring southern plantation characters), 1970's Blackspoitation film's like "Mandingo"(where large tough black men fought it out in rings), to old western films with over the top cartoon like southern cowboys and crooked lawmen. Lots of prevues from old american undergound films, ultimately revealing the source material that helped to develop the spirit for what was to be the movie Django Unchained. It really put the movie Django in context and essentially gave creative license for the movie you were about to see. It introduced audience to the obscure american film references used when creating the film. Revealing the sample sources or reference material that contributed to the development of the characters/plot/and storyline in the movie. It showed that these types of films actually exist in american film history and that he's not just making a new style of movie but rather providing a modern day take on all of his favorite movies from the past using some of todays best actors. You can tell he loves to make theses type of films, and it comes across in the final product. I can't say anything bad about the movie because it was amazing. Action packed & exciting for the whole 2 1/2 hours. Clever dialogue/perfect casting/amazing scenery/set/props. Clever witty dialogue/great unexpected cameos. The introduction to each new character was flawlessly executed. I like the film as much as Pulp Fiction, and more than Kill Bill. It's done in the classic Tarantino comic book thriller style. Thank god we have master film makers like him to push the limits of filmaking presenting smart/funny/exciting "art films" in a way that is acceptable to the general public. He's somehow managed to trick the system into allowing him to make movies that would typically only appeal to small artsy movie-geek hipster audience. His success has given him the ability to create the film of his dreams, with the best actors, presented in a fashion that draws in people from all walks of life. One of the best films I've seen in years. Go See It!!! You'll be glad you did.
