My Favorite Ladies
Scored some good art recently. The Marilyn Monroe Pieces are Silkscreen on Canvas done by Warhol Superstar Artist/Actor Louis Waldon. He reproduces some of Warhol's clasic works using the same techniques as they used at the Factory back in the day. The Jackie O Piece is also by Louis Waldon it's Stamped on the Back "Louis Waldon Warhol Superstar Years" and signed 2008. I found out that it is the reverse image of Warhol's Classic "Jackie 1" Print on Paper from 1966 (Which was done in an edition of 200). The Liz Taylor Print is by Russell Young it's a 42" screenprint on paper from 2005 a Signed #'d Edition of 25, I was going through some records at the flea market and noticed the big pink Liz Taylor print standing up vertically in a big box with tissue paper against a truck (It seems the best finds are always stumbled upon.)
The previous owner tacked it to the wall with pins. Probably because it'll cost 350-500 to frame that piece. I was amazed that a person would buy such an expensive print and just stick it to the wall like a cheap movie poster. Leading me to believe it was likely a gift given to a rookie art collector who didn't know better than to tack it to the wall. Found all of this stuff in the same day at two different locations when I wasn't expecting to find even one piece of art that day. #Only in So Cal.
