Nat Geo Burning Picking Game

I went to the Antiques Show a few weeks a back. And to my surprise National Geographic was there straight burning game and blowing up our spot. Which was completely uneccessary. Thanks for nothing Nat Geo. How can you get a good price for something when they're filming you with 2 cams a boom mic and a producer standing there overseeing the transaction. Super weak dude. Made it the complete opposite of treasure hunting. (I do love most national geographic documentaries though. Just not this one.)

Last All Star Promo - HP's Promo

HP had this station of a about 20 HP Printers where you can "create a NBA player" in your likeness. Most people were making it look kinda like themselves.
Some people were making them into some cool super player.

I knew I wanted to make a mockery of their deal the second I saw it.

And any true Lakers fan knows that being a Lakers fan, means being a Celtics Hater.

The HP rep standing there was like "oh you're a celtics fan" I was like "hell no Lakers baby" and pointed at the Laker Color P Rod Nike shoes I was wearing. And she said "oh you should have picked the Lakers then" (for your create-a-player) and I was all "hold on a sec and .... I'm gonna..." End result was:
(the guy printing it out got a kick out of it cuz I'm the only one that did that I guess. Only one that intentionally made a silly character that is. cuz you're supposed to wear as a necklace)

NBA All Star Jam Session 2011 Los Angeles

They were giving Jerry West a bronze statue out front of staples on the way up to Jam Session. Funny cuz the crowd Boo'ed Jerry West during the 2 minutes we stopped and watched. It was F'ed up and funny all at the same time. (but they were boo'ing the fact that he bailed from the Lakers organization years back. So they were really showing that they had love for him and wanted him to stay. But since ultimately he didn't his ass got boo'ed. Ha)

My nephew Big Jeff getting props on the way in to the NBA Jam Session Deal.

They gave you paint pens to get up on this huge basketball. So I wrote my name till they would tell me to stop. They didn't tell me to stop so I got bored and bailed from it and got my nephew who was playing NBA 2011 basketball video game on a big movie theater style projection screen for like 30 minutes.

Winner of the Scratch Battle won some NBA All Star 2011 Skullcandy Headphones. That little buddy w/the Yellow Lakers Cap won cuz he was the crowd favorite. And because nobody there knew how to rock the turntables.

So they had an interactive art promo deal where you get to customize a Vinyl Record w/Spin Art.(Smart because it relates to some Damien Hirst centrifugal force paintings) Pretty Clever idea because everybody in the building wanted to leave with one. Most successful promo of the whole NBA All Star Jam Session. They said you can use 3 colors (but only one color if you use too much paint - I made sure to use too much paint the second they turned their head I'd squeeze the paint bottle real hard)

This is how mine ended up looking. I thought it came out pretty rad. Nobody realized you had to only apply paint to inside of record to leave shiny black vinyl color.

Bonhams Line

Bonhams in LA has an art appraisal day once a month.
I brought some stuff and they said "so you're going to need to do some more research on the artist"(& I was all "sweet" thank god I stood in line for that). At least they told me that the photos I brought were Silver Gelatin prints(which was a plus). The people behind me in line had some cool european paintings. The one he brought last time was appraised at 1750-2500.(they take 40% so they didn't want to sell it through bonhams) So this month he (& his wife) brought a few more from the same collection. Forgot the artists name though.

And Another One

Dry Erase LB

I drew a wave on my friends dry erase board. Mason Brown drew his clocky character on the bottom later. (He does these sick clocky owl sculptures made out of cardboard.)

Openfaces

Been working away on 5 of these.
3' x 1 ' Acrylic on Wood Panels on 2.5" Thick Wood Stretchers.

(I tape the line off - Apply the paint - Then I have to let dry for 48-72 hrs because they are thick/textured lines.)
So you get to create 1-3 lines at a time, then I have to wait 2-3 days before I can work on the piece again.

Liquid Crystal Fluid Pinstripe Wave Paintings. 3ft x 1 ft each.

Mixer

Flying Up The Face

So I was driving around right after the rain.(It's rained alot in SoCal in the last few months)
The water on the winshield wasn't enough to really need to turn on the windshield wipers. When I got on the freeway and started going fast the water dropplets on the winshield then started slurping/sucking up going upward, up the windshield towards the roof of the car. Made me feel like I was going into superfast warp speed & it exaggerated the speed/movement of the car.
I realized that it related to a waveface, when offshore winds blow up the face of the wave and give texture to the surface of the wave.

It also related to the paintings I do where I invert drips across a taped off/masked off fluid grid system.

Then it hit me (dude, you should have done that style across a surf style/fluid wave taped off grid system long ago. )

So I got to taping off a canvas right away. (I'm 4+ coats into this one now, its finally building up and getting all thick and I'm lovin it.)

Base Coat. Took 9+ hrs. to tape this off w/blue painters tape.

Man Made Gems

Psychadelic Seaweed Flowers I made. (will collage these into my new paintings, really can't wait!)
